Hosting BBTB2 This Week!

I am the host on Bitten By The Bug2 this week! I chose the flamingo cut from Life's a Beach, or any flamingo cut. The catch was to NOT make the flamingo pink. So, I cut my flamingo from a blue/green striped cardstock, backed with another flamingo cut from dark brown cardstock. I outlined the flamingo with a fine black pen and drew the facial features. I also drew the "fishnet" stockings (isn't that hilarious?). I attached her to the card with foam dots. I used a blue cardstock for the card and overlapped it three quarters of the width with dark brown cardstock. I used a border punch on the pink shoe cardstock for the eyelet edge. I cut out the shoes from Summer in Paris in various colors of glitter cardstock backed with dark brown and a teenie-beenie rhinestone. The sentiment is chipboard. I added a few premade flowers. Finally, I tied some ribbon onto a bronze glittery bobby pin and attached it to the upper left corner of the card. I hope you like! Club Ruby at Above Rubies Studio

Teacup Challenge

I designed this card for the latest BBTB2 Challenge. The challenge was to use the cup. I cut my teacup out of patterned cardstock, outlined it with a black pen and added the rub-on sentiment. I attached the teacup to a pink patterned cardstock. I added a polka-dot ribbon and a fancy brad to mimic a teabag hanging over the edge. I layered several different colors and styles of flowers in the cup, including white and red puffy sticker flowers. The center of the flowers are clear "skittles." I really like the teacup cut. Spring Umbrella

I also made this little hanging artwork for the crop house. I cut the umbrella out of flower printed cardstock and light green cardstock. I inked the edges. I cut out the word spring and attached it to a strip of yellow cardstock, attached to the umbrella. I folded and layered paper flowers and cut apart others on the top of the umbrella, with pearls and a brad in the center of the flowers. Also, a couple of yellow teardrop shaped rhinestones to the top. I cut out several tear drop shapes from pastel polka dot cardstock, highlighting the dots with glitter glue. I then attached the drops to scrapper's floss and attached them to the back of the umbrella, letting them dangle.

Pretty Little Ice Skates

This is a pair of ice skates I cut out and embellished for the crop house. I cut the skates out of light blue cardstock, covered with a polka dot cardstock. I inked the edges and outlined them with a black pen. I punched 2 holes for the sheer pink ribbon: 1 to hang the skate and one for the ribbon bow. I added silver brads and cream lace ribbon to the top. I really liked how cute they turned out! The pastels with the brown work so well together.

Mascot Games

This past weekend my husband took me to the Mascot Games in Orlando. I LOVE characters, as I'm sure I've mentioned, so this was so much fun for me! I got their autographs and pics. Some of them were so funny! There were about 35 or so different mascots and they are grouped into 4 teams and compete against each other in timed games, like joust and racing, and an obstacle course. It was hysterical! We will definitely do that again. This is a pic of me with Ray from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Happy Home Card

I made this card for a friend who had a housewarming party recently. I started with a mauve cardstock for the card base, and a background of plaid patterned paper that I embossed and inked. The house is cut from fushia cardstock that I embossed, blue patterned paper for the roof, cream behind the windows, mauve embossed for the chimney. Blue and cream paper flowers with teeny-beeny rhinestones. "happy" is a rubber stamp and "Home" is a rub-on. I crossed some fushia ribbon, poked a pretty brad through and attached to the corner, kind of like a makeshift sunshine.

Congratulations Card

I made this card for a woman at work who celebrated 22 years employed at the College. I used navy blue cardstock, cream cardstock, blue patterned paper, yellow and cream paper flowers with yellow rhinestones, and sheer cream ribbon. I cut out the sentiment on my Cricut.

Shopping Spree!

Over the Fourth of July weekend, my sweet hub took me on a shopping spree. It was mostly because I really needed new clothes for my new job. I did really well with my budget and got some fabulous outfits. I like to have things that I can mix and match, or dress up or dress down. We literally shopped til we dropped for two days. We saw the fireworks all over Orlando on the fourth, because we were at a great vantage point. We saw Disney's fireworks, Hollywood Studios, Sea World, and many more all from one place. We had a great weekend.

Father's Day Shirt Card

These are not very good photos because I took them with my cell phone. I made this shirt card for my dad for Father's Day. I found a template, cut it, scored it and folded it to create the shirt. I added green cardstock to the inside, along with some letter stickers for my message. I cut out the collar and pocket from yellow cardstock and drew the stitches. I added the green buttons to the outside and voila! Oh, and since my dad only wears shirts with pockets so he can stash his smokes, I printed and cut out a teeny-beeny pack of his favorite brand, and stuck it in the pocket.

Genie Lamp Wishes Card

For this week's Bitten By The Bug2 Challenge, we had to use the Genie Lamp. I made a card from maroon cardstock. I cut a piece of patterned paper for the background and distressed the edges. I added rhinestones to opposite corners. I cut the building silhouette from the same maroon cardstock and embossed it. I added rhinestones in various colors to the peaks. I cut the genie lamp from glitter cardstock, inked the edges, attached it with foam dots and added a rhinestone design. I stamped "best wishes" over the swirl, and stapled ribbon to the top corner. Deer Friend Card

I made this card for a friend's birthday recently. I got some new K&Co paper and I just loved the patterned papers. I rubber stamped the deer and the sentiment. I also created the poofy paper flower from old dictionary paper. Don't worry no dictionaries were harmed in the making of this card!

Happy Birthday Cake Cards

We celebrated birthdays for the summer semester at work this past week. I made seven of these birthday cake cards. I wanted to make a group of cards that were the same style, but various designs. I cut all the cards from white cardstock, which I then embossed with a variety of designs. I also used various colors of cardstock for the frosting and candles. Inside I cut out the phrase "happy birthday." I like how they turned out. I think the embossing looks like frosting.

Birthday Card for Dad

This is the card I made for my dad's birthday. I started with a blue cardstock card, added map patterned paper, a punched border from brown cardstock, and two layered circles of blue cardstock and blue patterned paper. I cut out the car image from a vintage patterned paper. I glittered the letter stickers and stamped the sentiment. I folded the ribbon and stapled it in place. Finally I added glittered dots to some of the cardstock pieces.

BBTB2 & Sweet N Sassy Digi Stamps

Wow! I can't believe how fast the weekend goes by! It was a really nice relaxing one for me and my hub. We went in the pool, barbecued, watched movies, racing (for him), scrapbooking (for me). Here is my latest design for the BBTB2 team. We got digital stamps to use with the sunshine cut from Doodlecharms. The digi stamps are from Sweet N Sassy. Such cute images! I flipped the image of the mushroom and caterpillar, colored them with markers, cut them out and backed them with black Bazzill bling paper. I notched the corners of the mushroom background paper and threaded bakers twine around them. I cut out the heart and love word from Paper Pups and layered the heart around the Love at First Sight caterpillars. I glittered the love word and some of the layered paper flowers. Sarah Kay Thinking of You

I used this handcolored Sarah Kay image to make this Thinking of You card. Layered the image on various flower cardstocks and a pink card base. Also layered some paper flowers and a painted brad. I cut out "thinking of you" in brown cardstock and glittered. I also used some staples in the corners and some ric rac ribbon.
