Sew Fine Layout

Here is a project I made for the Gecko Galz design team for August. It is a scrapbook layout of my fabulous & crafty friend, Daphne. She was sewing a duster for her son and I snapped some pics of her studiously pinning and cutting the pattern. I started with a blue cardstock base, layered with stitches patterned paper trimmed down to 11 inches, and inked the edges. I attached a 5" strip of argyle paper to the center. Added photos, pop dotting the center image. Attached In Stitches images. Layered and adhered felt and paper flowers. Added buttons to the centers of some flowers, and a metal badge to one of the flower centers. Idabbed glitter glue to the edges of the flowers. Added epoxy scissors, buttons and postmark stickers randomly. Arranged letter stickers in an arc, and dotted with a white pen. I then added various white stitches rub-ons to the border of the page. There are some special things on this page, which pay homage to my friend's past. First, the epoxy postmark reads "Boston, Mass." Well, Daphne was born there!  Second, I used several pearl button blanks that belonged to Daphne's granny. Two on the left vintage image, and two on the right edge of the small pic of Daphne. Her granny worked in a factory and gave her these button blanks (blank meaning no holes). She shared some with her friends (me!) and I thought it would be nice to use them on a page for her. I gave the layout to her as a gift and she really liked it {smile}.

Miles of Smiles,

I love this layout girl!! Thank you so much! It is so pretty. The colors are beautiful.
Oh..but Granny didn't work in a button factory. She lived across the street from one and when it closed down she and my mom (who was a little girl at the time) found a box of these button blanks when they were getting ready to tear the factory down.
I really appreciate the wonderful reminder of Granny!!
